VILLA NAME ETYMOLOGY
Antas is an area in the south-east of the island where the ruins of a Punic-Roman temple dedicated to the god Sardus Pater (Sid Addir to the Carthaginians) were found. The region was inhabited by Carthaginians and Romans drawn by rich iron and lead deposits. The temple of Antas, discovered in 1836 by General Alberto La Marmora, was restored in 1976.
